Understanding the True Meaning of Gender
For some time now Gender has been misinterpreted by many in the New Age movement with most equating it to either the left and right hemisphere's of the brain or the positive and negative elements of energy flow within the body as in the Ida and Pingala of Kundalini. Unfortunately this is incorrect and a very simplistic perception of Gender by those who either lack a full understanding of it or would rather place it in the too hard basket and simply equate it to left and right sides of the brain or positive and negative energy to explain it away easily and be done with it. It seems that they have simply replaced left, right, positive and negative terms with Male and Female.
The truth is that while there is a positive and negative, left and right brain aspect to Gender these are only some qualities contained within each Gender and not the absolute total embodiment of them.

Our brains are not dual. Left and right, positive and negative, etc. perceived from duality results in half truth rather half lies. The moment we change our paradigm, so not our perspective which is still within duality, we do not divide those aspects anymore.

Jezus / Honey / Sun / Divine Masculine / Electricity / Pineal Gland / Left Hemisphere (in each of us)
Maria Magdalene / Milk / Moon / Divine Feminine / Magnetism / Pituitary Gland / Right Hemisphere (in each of us)

If we look to Hermetics for an understanding of Gender we see that it states that Gender plays out on all the three Planes as in the Principle of Correspondence which are the Physical, the Spiritual, and the Mental and this is where this simplistic thinking of Gender comes unstuck. Firstly for energy to create Force there needs to be Polarity of EQUAL positive and negative charge so we can imagine if we transferred this to Gender it would also have to play out in the Physical Plane and basically that would make us all hermaphrodites because we would be half Male and Female. So when equating the Ida and Pingala of Kundalini to energy they are NOT Male and Female instead they contain certain principles of Male and Female aspects within them.

Hemetics explains Mental Gender as such: “The Feminine principle is always in the direction of receiving impressions, and has a much more varied field of operation than the Masculine principle. The Masculine conducts the work of generating new thoughts, concepts, and ideas, including the work of the imagination. It is said that there must be a balance in these two forces. Without the Masculine, the Feminine is apt to act without restraint, order, or reason, resulting in chaos. The Masculine alone, on the other hand, is apt to constantly reflect and fail to actually do anything, resulting in stagnation. With both the Masculine and Feminine working in conjunction, there is thoughtful action that breeds success, which points out that both the Feminine and the Masculine fulfil each other."

So we can see that Hermetics doesn't speak of the Masculine and Feminine relating to half and half or to the left or right brain hemisphere's being somehow brought into harmony but instead that it is both the Male and Female principles of Gender within us that need to work in harmony to process information. When this Mental Gender plays out in the Physical Plane this is then experienced in both the Male and Female aspects working to understand and process information together. When we see this depicted in the symbolism of Alchemical and Religious art we are seeing them representing the Divine Male aspect / allegory (Jesus) and Divine Female aspect / allegory (Mary Magdalene) working together in each of us to unlock Divine Knowledge.





Right in front of our faces: the 'Twin Soul concept' being watched over by Orion, we have the knowledge above the Female 'Twin Soul' Aspect and the Lamb above the Male Aspect show God's Wisdom birthed with him. 7 Tassels hang from the book: 7 = Ethereal Soul Form. She wears Blue and has a crown of 6 spikes: 6 = Physical Soul Form. The Dove represents Orion and also Venus/Isis/Mary who births Horus/Jesus. We see 4 fingers from God's hand holding Mother Earth: 4 represents Foundation. This is also showing everything is in God's Hands, our destinies have already been charted before we incarnated our free will was choosing which of the paths to take but we are all heading to the same destination, the hands down the bottom have 10 fingers: 10/3 = 3.333 > Infinity 1 of the fingers is crossed showing 9 fingers also: 9 = Divine. We also see the Male 'Twin Soul' Aspect in red, he is looking to the understanding of the Knowledge he holds within him.

The Female 'Twin Soul' Aspect holds her fingers like the Trinity and there are a total of 7 of her fingers showing her thumb is hidden behind the stem and if you count that you get 8: 7 = Ethereal Soul Form and 8 = Infinite/God. The Cross on the top of Mother Earth is symbolising an 8: when you count the middle of the cross and then the end of each spike on the cross: 4 + 4 = 8. Infinite/God. Top left it looks like Rams Horns are symbolising Sacred Geometry, Fibonnaci Sequence.

The center of the whole image is the Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra is our anchor between the Physical and the Ethereal, however the 3rd Eye Chakra and Heart Chakra are connected. Inner Alchemy has to do with birthing our Inner Sun which starts in the 3rd Chakra, but you need to align your 3rd Chakra with your Heart Chakra. It is only when you have done this you are able to perceive from the I-in-We awareness which is true love. When you do not align your 3rd Chakra with your Heart Chakra you perceive from the I (ego) only and you will not be able to perceive from the I-in-We awareness.

VII. THE PRINCIPLE OF GENDER.

'Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles Gender; manifests on all planes.' — The Kybalion.

This Principle embodies the truth that there is GENDER manifested in everything — the Masculine and Feminine Principles ever at work. This is true not only of the Physical Plane, but of the Mental, and even the Spiritual Planes. On the Physical Plane, the Principle manifests as SEX, on the higher planes it takes higher forms, but the Principle is ever the same. No creation, physical, mental or spiritual, is possible without this Principle. An understanding of its laws will throw light on many a subject that has perplexed the minds of men. The Principle of Gender works ever in the direction of generation, regeneration, and creation. Everything, and every person, contains the two Elements or Principles, or this great Principle, within it, him or her. Every Male thing has the Female Element also; every Female contains also the Male Principle. If you would understand the philosophy of Mental and Spiritual Creation, Generation, and Re-generation, you must understand and study this Hermetic Principle. It contains the solution of many mysteries of Life. We caution you that this Principle has no reference to the many base, pernicious and degrading lustful theories, teachings and practices, which are taught under fanciful titles, and which are a prostitution of the great natural principle of Gender. Such base revivals of the ancient infamous forms of Phallicism tend to ruin mind, body and soul, and the Hermetic Philosophy has ever sounded the warning note against these degraded teachings which tend toward lust, licentiousness, and perversion of Nature's principles. If you seek such teachings, you must go elsewhere for them — Hermeticism contains nothing for you along these lines. To the pure, all things are pure; to the base, all things are base.
II. THE PRINCIPLE OF CORRESPONDENCE.

'As above, so below; as below so above.' — The Kybalion.

This Principle embodies the truth that there is always a Correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of Being and Life. The old Hermetic axiom ran in these words: "As above, so below; as below, so above." And the grasping of this Principle gives one the means of solving many a dark paradox, and hidden secret of Nature. There are planes beyond our knowing, but when we apply the Principle of Correspondence to them we are able to understand much that would otherwise be unknowable to us. This Principle is of universal application and manifestation, on the various planes of the material, mental, and spiritual universe — it is an Universal Law. The ancient Hermetists considered this Principle as one of the most important mental instruments by which man was able to pry aside the obstacles which hid from view the Unknown. Its use even tore aside the Veil of Isis to the extent that a glimpse of the face of the goddess might be caught. Just as a knowledge of the Principles of Geometry enables man to measure distant suns and their movements, while seated in his observatory, so a knowledge of the Principle of Correspondence enables Man to reason intelligently from the Known to the Unknown. Studying the monad, he understands the archangel.
